Today the #NJSmall movement achieved its first major victory: Bill A-4634 was voted out of the Assembly Committee with unanimous, hearty yes votes! Now is the time to reach out to your local Assemblyperson to ask that this bill be voted on by the Assembly at its next session!
This victory came on International Women’s Day, so it was an especially meaningful day for our co-founder and female small business owner, Denise Blasevick, to testify on behalf of the bill. “Small businesses have been hurt, and continue to be hurt – with women-owned businesses being hit harder than their counterparts,” said Blasevick. “To have this victory on International Women’s Day is significant. We still have a long way to go to legislation, though, so please reach out to your local Assemblyperson!”
NJSmall would like to take this important moment to thank the bill’s primary sponsors, Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer (Bergen and Passaic), Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson (Bergen), and Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight (Hudson). We would also like to thank the co-sponsors, Assemblymen Space, Wirths, McGuckin, Catalano, Dancer, and Mazzeo.
“We are so grateful to see the momentum for NJSmall growing, with strong bipartisan Assembly support,” said Blasevick, “and we are hopeful that we will see similar movement within the State Senate in the near future.”
